June 1, 2000: The Valve Shop/TheValveShop.com founded by Ray Herrera.

Founded Internet company to sell valve products on the Internet. Created, developed, and launched Website.

Established local distributorship focused on Southern California Commercial, Government, Industrial, Marine, and Municipal markets.

Initial products include Triac Ball Valves and Actuators, Diaphragm Valves and Butterfly Valves, Techno Check Valves, Burkert Solenoid Valves, and Kerick Float Valves.


July 15, 2003: The Valve Shop is published in Chemical Processing Magazine.

January 1, 2004 The Valve Shop becomes a Master Stocking Distributor for Asco Valves.

The Valve Shop signs agreement with Asco Valve to become a full line Master Stocking Distributor for Asco Valves, Switches, and Controls.

ASCO Valve Inc. selected The Valve Shop as a full-line factory authorized distributor of valve products and valve monitoring systems to focus on commercial, industrial, municipal, and bio-pharma applications in Southern California.

As a master stocking distributor for Asco valves, The Valve Shop will offer a comprehensive inventory, highly competitive prices, factory trained personnel and on-site service support

Powered operation and valve automation enhancements are often added to provide advantages in process quality, efficiency, safety and productivity. The navigation bar includes products, shopping information and technical resources. The latter provides industry (selected manufacturers) and technical links along with references to book sources (Amazon and Barnes & Noble) and a literature request form. A convenient product line card to help select, price and buy valves online is available. On the Tech Resources page, a Google search bar may be used for searching The Valve Shop.

February 7, 2005: The Valve Shop is certified as an 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB).
The Valve Shop has been certified as a Participant in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Business Development (BD) program and as a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) in the Federal Government’s SDB program. The certification allows The Valve Shop to pursue federal government contracts set aside for 8(a) companies, as well as receiving sole-source contracts directly from government agencies.

"Receiving our 8(a) certification is the culmination of a long journey, but one which will yield positive results for our organization," said Ray Herrera, Owner and Founder of The Valve Shop. "We are excited about capitalizing on this certification to offer our products and services to our Military, Federal and Local Government agencies, and look for to showing our commitment to the missions they support".

January 3, 2006: The Valve Shop incorporates as
The Valve Shop incorporates in California, a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth. The Valve Shop started on June 1, 2000 as a sole proprietorship. "Incorporating the business makes legal sense particularly as our business continues to grow said Ray Herrera, Owner and Founder of The Valve Shop. "Incorporating with the name gives our customers and principals a more accurate description of our product focus".

Due to name recognition, will continue to do business as (d/b/a) The Valve Shop/TheValveShop.com. The Valve Shop is a value added supplier of on/off and flow control valves, actuators, and process controls, primarily serving the commercial, industrial, and sanitary markets, specializing in flow, level, pressure, and temperature applications.

February 3, 2006: The Valve Shop aed contract to supply Asco Valve products to Kaman Industrial Technologies.
Kaman Industrial Technologies Corporation, a leading distributor of industrial parts operates nearly 200 customer service centers and five distribution centers across North America. Kaman offers more than three million items including bearings, power transmission, electrical, material handling, motion control, fluid power and MRO supplies to customers in a variety of industries.

The Valve Shop was selected based on it's ability and commitment to provide Kaman's nationwide distribution channels with exceptional sales, service, and support. As a master stocking distributor for Asco valves, The Valve Shop offers a comprehensive inventory, highly competitive prices, factory trained personnel, and full service sales support.

September 29, 2006: The Valve Shop acquires 4,368 SF Building in Carlsbad, CA.
The Valve Shop, acquires a 4,368 square foot building located at 6070 Corte Del Cedro, just 6 miles north of The Valve Shop's current location. This new facility will become the company’s new corporate headquarters, including sales, customer service, technical support, parts sales, repair, automation, assembly, technical training, and warehouse.

"This acquisition provides us with the flexibility we need to meet the growth we are experiencing in our online and local sales markets," says Ray Herrera, President and CEO,
"Thanks to our loyal customers, supportive Principals, and committed Employees, we have outgrown our current location. This new facility will give us the flexibility to expand our sales, service, and support operations as well as increase our product offerings and inventory levels.

September 1, 2008: The Valve Shop receives $1 Million Club sales a from Asco Valve.
The Valve Shop is pleased to announce that we have been aed Asco Valve's $1 Million Club sales a. This honor is based upon outstanding performance by a distributor in exceeding $1 Million in annual sales through sales excellence, training participation, technical competence, support of initiative programs, joint sales participation, and general professionalism.

The Valve Shop has recognized that in an increasingly challenging business environment, these traits have value beyond the manufacturer-distributor relationship. They also reflect a commitment to customer service, product knowledge and application based problem solving.

June 8, 2009: Receives 2009 Best of Carlsbad A.

December 22, 2009: The Valve Shop aed contract for sanitary diaphragm valves on B. Braun Exceed project.
Since 1839, B. Braun has delivered innovative healthcare products, services and educational programs that enhance the care and safety of patients and healthcare professionals in the fields of drug delivery, IV therapy, pain control, clinical nutrition, dialysis and vascular intervention. Our products and services are used in hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and in the home care setting.

August 1, 2010: The Valve Shop aed GSA Contract for Asco Valves.
Applied Valves & Controls, Inc., d/b/a The Valve Shop has been aed by the General Services Administration, a GSA Contract for Asco Valves, Rebuild Kits, and Coils.

The Valve Shop is an Asco Authorized Valve Distributor. Asco Valves and Rebuild Kits can be purchased via our GSA Contract # GS-07F-0559W for Federal Supply Schedule 056, Buildings and Building Materials/Industrial Services and Supplies.

January 4, 2011: The Valve Shop aed contract for Apollo ball valves on General Atomics SCWO project.
SCWO takes advantage of the unique properties exhibited by water when used above its critical point, 705ºF and 3210 psi. The organic content of the waste feed is quickly and efficiently converted to carbon dioxide, water, and salts with negligible production of carbon monoxide, NOX, or SOX. SCWO exhibits unparalleled environmental compliance capabilities, without the need of a pollution-abatement system. The higher operating pressure, relative to alternative destruction processes such as incineration, results in a very compact unit design with high throughput capability.

March 3, 2011: The Valve Shop aed contract for Industrial diaphragm valves on CP Kelco China project.
CP Kelco (Shandong) Biological Co. Ltd. manufactures xanthan gum products. The company serves food and beverage, cosmetics, coating, textile, printing and dyeing, agricultural, and chemical industries in America, Europe, SouthEast Asia, and Middle East. The company was founded as Shandong Gold Millet Biological Products Co., Ltd. in 2001 and changed its name to CP Kelco (Shandong) Biological Co. Ltd. in March 2006. The company is based in Shandong, China. As of March 7, 2006, CP Kelco (Shandong) Biological Co. Ltd. is a subsidiary of CP Kelco U.S., Inc.

April 20, 2011: The Valve Shop aed contract for A-T Controls Triac ball valves on Kurion Nuclear clean up project.
Kurion, Inc., an innovator in nuclear waste management, announced that it completed the initial delivery a week and a half ago of several hundred tons of equipment and its Ion Specific Media to support its key role to remove radioactivity from contaminated water at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Kurion engineers started arriving at the Fukushima site a week ago Wednesday with more arriving over the next two weeks to support system installation, commissioning and startup mid-June. The Kurion system is part of an unprecedented effort by an international team of leading radioactive waste management companies to quickly deliver a large contaminated water processing system. Kurion is the sole American company in this historic water processing effort.

August 12, 2011: The Valve Shop aed contract for sanitary diaphragm valves on Baxter LAMP project.
Baxter's Bioscience business recently began work on a six-year multi-million dollar investment plan to upgrade its Los Angeles manufacturing site. The program will include a replacement manufacturing facility. Baxter's Los Angeles facility is the world's largest and most advanced plasma-fractionation facility, and has been in operation for more than 50 years. The plant features advanced technology to produce plasma proteins, which are used in the treatment of immune disorders, hemophilia, trauma and other life threatening conditions.

September 15, 2011: The Valve Shop aed contract for sanitary diaphragm valves on Agensys project.
Agensys in January 2011 broke ground on a new 160,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, which will help fulfill Astellas' mission of developing innovative pharmaceuticals for cancer patients with still unmet medical needs. "The research and development facility that is to be built on these grounds will symbolize the promise of better days for cancer patients and their families around the globe," said Agensys President and CEO Dr. Sef Kurstjens.

January 10, 2012: The Valve Shop acquires an additional 3,825 SF Building in Carlsbad, CA.
The Valve Shop, purchased a 3,835 square foot building located directly adjacent to their existing building. This gives The Valve Shop a total of 8,193 square feet of office and warehouse space.

"This acquisition provides us with the flexibility we need to meet the growth we are experiencing in our online and local sales markets," says Ray Herrera, President and CEO,

January 10, 2012: The Valve Shop exhibits Asco Valves at the 2012 San Diego ISPE Vendor Night

October 1, 2014: Valin Acquires The Valve Shop

It is our pleasure to announce that Valin Corporation of San Jose, CA has acquired DBA The Valve Shop located in Carlsbad, California. We are very excited about this acquisition and being able to offer The Valve Shop customers an extended portfolio of systems, services, and products. The Valve Shop will begin operating as Valin Corporation effective October 1, 2013.

The Valve Shop customers can expect to receive the same great service and products, and will continue to work with the same respected Outside and Insides Sales personnel. This acquisition broadens the systems, services, and product offerings to The Valve Shop customers, which gives our customers a more comprehensive application-based solutions supplier to work with.
